Don’t Fail The Test, Week 3

Temptation comes to everyone, but Jesus shows us how to overcome it. When Satan offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world in exchange for worship, Jesus firmly refused, quoting scripture and maintaining his allegiance to God alone. This same temptation appears in our lives daily as we're told our lives would be better if we could just acquire more worldly things. Whatever we worship becomes our authority, whether it's relationships, money, career, or personal goals. By following Jesus' example of conviction, obedience, and character, we can pass this test by recognizing what truly deserves our worship.

Don’t Fail The Test, Week 2

Life often feels like a wilderness where we face tests that can strengthen our faith or lead us into traps. In Luke 4, Jesus demonstrates how to overcome the enemy's first test about provision by trusting God rather than taking matters into His own hands. When tempted to turn stones into bread, Jesus quotes scripture, declaring that we live not just on physical sustenance but on God's word. This teaches us to present our needs to God first instead of relying solely on ourselves. Whether we need direction, healing, finances, strength, peace, joy, wisdom, or hope, no need is too great for God to provide.

Don’t Fail The Test, Week 1

Life is filled with spiritual tests that can either elevate or destroy us, depending on our preparation. Jesus' wilderness experience in Luke 4:1-13 provides the perfect example of how to pass life's tests. Before facing temptation, Jesus was empowered by the Holy Spirit and secure in His identity as God's beloved Son. His success came through four key qualities: conviction, character, dependence, and obedience. These same qualities are available to anyone who surrenders to Christ. The most important question isn't whether we believe in Jesus, but whether we're surrendered to Him, allowing His presence to empower us through every challenge.

Colossians, Week 9

In Colossians 4:2-6, Paul identifies two essential conversations every Christian should prioritize daily: prayer with God and meaningful interactions with non-believers. Effective prayer requires discipline, watchfulness beyond our own needs, and gratitude that transforms our perspective. When speaking with those who don't know Jesus, we should be wise, intentional, and ensure our words are full of grace and 'seasoned with salt' - making the message of Christ appealing and life-giving. These intentional conversations fulfill our purpose as believers, drawing us closer to God while helping others experience His goodness through our words and actions.

Colossians, Week 8

Relationships reveal our connection with Jesus, as our faith flows into every interaction. Paul's instructions to the Colossians were revolutionary for their time, elevating women through voluntary alignment rather than blind obedience, calling husbands to sacrificial love, teaching children respect while warning parents against discouragement, and promoting integrity in work relationships. These principles challenge us to represent Christ in all relationships - putting others' needs before our own, balancing discipline with encouragement as parents, serving with integrity at work, and embodying Jesus' character in every interaction. By reordering our relationships according to biblical principles, we create communities that shine as lights in a messy world.

Colossians, Week 7

In Colossians 3:1-17, Paul challenges believers to live according to their new identity in Christ rather than settling for less. Since we have been raised with Christ, we must set our minds on things above and put to death our old sinful nature. This means actively removing behaviors like sexual immorality, greed, anger, and lies while intentionally clothing ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, patience, and love. When we truly live according to our new identity, we experience the peace of Christ that surpasses understanding—the wholeness and completeness we've been searching for.

Colossians, Week 6

Discover why rules become problematic when they prioritize religion over relationship with God, feed pride instead of humility, and lead to disconnection from Christ. Paul reminds believers that Jesus has already canceled our debt of sin by nailing it to the cross, freeing us from the burden of rule-keeping. Understand the fundamental difference between religion (man's quest for God) and the Gospel (God's quest for man). If you're feeling burdened by religious expectations or struggling to balance rules and relationship in your faith journey, this message offers biblical insight and practical guidance. Find freedom in Christ's invitation: 'Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.'

Colossians, Week 5

Everyone desires significance, but true meaning isn't found in fleeting moments of recognition or worldly achievements. As Paul teaches in Colossians 2:6-12, our significance comes solely through our relationship with Jesus Christ. We must walk in Christ, be rooted in Him, built up on His foundation, strengthened in faith, and overflow with thankfulness. Modern distractions like consumerism, relativism, legalism, self-help spirituality, political identity, and social media validation can dilute our faith. The powerful truth is that in Christ, we are already complete—chosen, redeemed, fully known, and fully loved.

Colossians, Week 3

Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God, supreme over all creation and the head of the church. Though we often elevate other things in our lives - from sports figures to relationships - only Jesus deserves the highest place of authority. He existed before everything, created all things, and holds creation together. Jesus reconciled us to God through His death, making us holy and blameless. When we properly elevate Jesus in our lives, He becomes our first resource in every situation, not our last resort.

Colossians, Week 2

God's will for our lives begins with His rescue operation through Jesus, bringing us from darkness into light. It extends beyond salvation to living a life that pleases God and bears fruit. This transformed life isn't achieved through our own efforts but through the Holy Spirit's empowerment with knowledge, wisdom, power, endurance, patience, and joy. Understanding God's will isn't about getting specific answers to every question but embracing a lifestyle of surrender, transformation, and spiritual empowerment that allows us to live in our inheritance now.

Life's unexpected storms can leave us feeling overwhelmed, just like the disciples in the boat when a fierce storm arose on the Sea of Galilee. Jesus demonstrated His divine authority by commanding the storm to be still, revealing that He alone has power over creation. The key questions become whether Jesus is in our boat, if He's our first response in trouble, and if we approach Him with faith rather than fear. Through the Holy Spirit living in us, we have even greater access to Jesus' hope and power than the disciples did.
